PENCIL ON PAPER

I have always loved to draw from a young age. From drawing in class which seemed to frustrate my teachers, to drawing from an encyclopedia of sea animals, I have seen my drawing style change and evolve as have I throughout my life.

I preferred drawing with pens due to the precision that a new micron pen allowed me hold in my drawings, but in my drawing class in college I saw myself become more confident in pencil drawing. I see this as a learning experience as I didn’t have the option to become discouraged and disengage with this style before I saw improvement.

Objects from my home including a mug, ring, and candle. I played with different shading techniques in the Close-Up such as pointillism for the candle, and circulism in the background.

One of my favorite artist is Yoshitomo Nara due to both the form and content of his works. I deeply admire Harmony Korine (director) for his unconventional film narratives and cinematography style. My character in the bunny hat (R) stems from Korine’s film ‘Gummo’.
